Tests to be Carried Out on 3 Phase Induction Motor
Q. List out the tests to be carried out on 3 phase induction motor as per I.S. 4029 - 1967 and is 325 - 1961.
Routine Tests :
These tests are carried out on each and every motor manufactured in the industries. As per I.S. 323 - 1970 and 327-1978 following tests shall be carried out on each motor.
- Insulation resistance test
- Measurement of D.C. resistance
- High voltage test
- No-load running of motor and reading of current in the three phases and voltage
- Open circuit voltage ratio test (for slip - ring motors only)
- Locked - rotor readings of voltage, current and power input at a suitable reduced voltage
- Reduced voltage running up test
- Measurement of slip
Type Tests :
These tests are carried out on only few induction motors from the lot of same design
It includes all tests coming under routine test (1 to 8) and in addition it includes :
1. Temperature- rise test
2. Momentary overload test
